History & tradition
Modern gift-wrapping usage; the bow itself is universal
The bow is the everyday Korean 나비매듭 or 리본매듭: a two-loop slip knot used on shoelaces, boxes and gift wrap. On bojagi it is a decorative alternative to the plain double tie, used where looks matter more than security. It should not be confused with the traditional decorative butterfly knot (나비매듭) of the 매듭 craft, which is a different, fixed knot.
Common in modern bottle and wedding-gift wrap tutorials; it unties with one pull, so the recipient can open the gift easily.
Researched with medium confidence.
