History & tradition

Joseon to mid-20th century; ordinary households

Long narrow offcuts, such as those left from cutting garment panels, could be joined edge to edge in vertical strips. The name is a classification label from a 2005 design study of 90 jogakbo photographs, not a term the makers used. The study names the type but describes it only briefly, so little more can be said about it.

Researched with low confidence.
