History & tradition
Joseon to mid-20th century; ordinary households
Equal circles overlap so that their shared edges form petal shapes; it is the only jogakbo type with curved seams, which made it hard to sew. The name refers to the yeouiju (如意珠), the wish-granting jewel often shown with dragons. The name is a classification label from a 2005 design study of 90 jogakbo photographs, not a term the makers used.
Rare in collections; modern makers sometimes skip it because the curved seams are difficult.
The link between the name and the jewel is the researchers' label; there is no record that makers intended that symbolism.
Researched with medium confidence.
