History & tradition
Joseon to mid-20th century; ordinary households
A centre square is framed by rings of pieces that grow larger outward, sometimes set off-centre so that they seem to turn. The name is a classification label from a 2005 design study of 90 jogakbo photographs, not a term the makers used. The 2021 study calls the same idea 'radial' (방사형), like a circle spreading outward.
Contemporary makers use it for centrepiece covers and wall hangings.
