History & tradition
Joseon
The plum-blossom knot has five petals, sometimes seven; tied six or eight times with a ginger knot at each corner it forms a hexagonal or octagonal blossom. The AKS dictionary records it chiefly on children's clothes and 매화 선추 fan pendants, and on 귀주머니 and scent-case norigae, noting that few survive and that the multi-wrap forms come undone easily.
Rare in surviving pieces; revived in modern classes.
