History & tradition
Joseon to 20th century households
Clothes were stored folded in chests, and each set was wrapped in its own cloth to keep it clean and sorted. Silk patchwork was often used for good clothes, and the same family of wrappers included cloths for fabric yardage and for carrying laundry to the stream. Clothes sent in the betrothal 함 were also wrapped this way.
